Halloween is always a big event in the annual calender. Here at River & Bear we are always keen to get into the spooky spirit, and so with Halloween just over a week away, we thought we’d make a shortlist of our favourite spooky campaigns we’ve seen over the years.

1. TopShop X Stranger Things Campaign

Just before the second season of Stranger Things was released in October 2017, Topshop released a range of clothing and accessories. Topshop created a fully immersive Stranger Things experience in their oxford circus shop as well as completely transforming their website to fit the supernatural theme of the show.

2. Haunted Hotels from Booking.com

Booking.com took a long-standing rumour that could potentially deter people from staying in certain hotels and used it to their advantage. The daunting slogan “Stay if you Dare” fuelled the campaign forward which categorised the most haunted hotels and made it easy for travellers to book a night in a hotel other people avoid.

3. Asda Halloween Campaign

Known for being an affordable brand, Asda thrives in the halloween period. Their adverts feature all of the costume stock and combine it with traditionally halloween films and music (such as the blob movie).

4. Burger King Green Burger

Burger King is renowned for releasing scary campaigns around Halloween. This year they’re bringing out a burger that makes it 3.5 times more likely to have a nightmare after eating it. The “Nightmare King” has a green bun which makes it seem even more mysterious. They have certainly lived up to expectations following last year’s killer clown campaign which saw certain restaurants give free burgers to people who embraced the theme and dressed up as a clown themselves.

5. Guinness Halloween Shadows

One of the most interactive campaigns on this list is Guinness and their shadow coasters. Using a very low budget, Guinness managed to create a campaign that was enticing for pub-goers and helped them profit through the spirit of halloween.
