Cardiff’s next generation of performance gym launched on Sunday 11th November.

PB Performance truly is the next generation of performance gym, but you’ll have to go and see it to believe it. Officially opened on Sunday, business partner’s Pelin Baykal and Lawrence Farncombe invited all gym-goers to attend. PB Performance is located on Portmanmoor Road and we have no doubt that it is going to raise the bar for performance gyms in Cardiff.

The launch ran from 2pm-7pm, and doubled up as an open day where anyone could go and train for free. To begin the day there was a bench clinic with former GB powerlifting head coach, Lawrence Farncombe. Next up was the weightlifting clinic taken by South Regions Champion, Khrys Speed. Khrys was incredibly knowledgeable and it was clear that he loves his sport, perhaps we could even be tempted to take up the sport. Finally, there was a squat clinic with WRH and British Champion Josh Greenfield.

After the clinics were all done and dusted, questions answered and muscles stretched, the charity CrossFit WOD for AP Cymru began. Hari James took everyone through the techniques of CrossFit and what was expected of them.

The WOD consisted of as many rounds as possible of the following exercises in 18mins:

  • 11 hang power snatches
  • 11 burpees
  • 11 thrusters
  • 11 pull-ups

What a workout, CrossFit is not for the faint-hearted. Everyone involved did amazingly well, some were seasoned CrossFit attendees, whilst others were complete beginners. PB Performance is CrossFit affliated as CrossFit Jansu, and Hari James will be running CrossFit sessions at PB Performance, so if you enjoyed that one, why not go back for more.

On top of all of the clinics and CrossFit WOD, there was nutritional information from Become Nutrition and the PB Performance coaching team. Gym-goers could replenish themselves with tasty arepas from Cardiff-based Queen Pepiada.

PB Performance has a wide range of membership options available including no contract, fixed term, student and more. To find out more about PB Performance memberships and the gym itself, please visit: http://www.pbperformancegym.com

All in all, it was a great launch event and something that we at River & Bear were thrilled to be a part of. We look forward to working with PB Performance in the future.
